The split
These two products are confused constantly — by holders, by search engines, and by sites that should know better. They are sold by different companies, run by different administrators, fought with different vocabularies, and answered by different regulators. Fighting the wrong one wastes the one resource you can't recover: the clocks.
| Question | Store protection plan (this site) | Home warranty (sister site) |
|---|---|---|
| What does it cover? | One product you bought | A home's systems and appliances, as one contract |
| Who sold it? | Home Depot / Lowe's, at the register or on the product page | A warranty company (American Home Shield, Choice, Cinch…) — often around a home purchase |
| Who runs claims? | SquareTrade/Allstate (HD), Assurant family (Lowe's), Asurion (legacy HD) | The warranty company itself |
| The fight's vocabulary | Lemon counts, 48-hour delivery windows, 72-hour rental, 60-day payback | Claim readiness, repair-vs-replace caps, pre-existing conditions |
| Your first tool | The Will They Fix It? checker here | WarrantyDecoded's claim-readiness checker |
One company (CLEARDEAL LLC) runs both sites, and the split is deliberate: people search for these fights in the store's name or the warranty company's name, never in an umbrella term, and the rules share almost nothing. A page that tried to serve both would serve neither. Each site links the other's free checker — and each keeps its own kit, its own sale, and its own dataset. If the test above says home warranty, go there with our blessing; come back if a store plan fight ever finds you.
Count your own case. The free checker takes your store, your plan date, your repair history, and your dates — and returns your lemon count, your live clocks, and the money the plan owes. Run the checker →
The pages above are the map. The kit is the paperwork: the repair log that proves the count, the script for your administrator, and the complaint pack for when the stall continues.
One payment, yours to keep. We never ask for your store or plan-portal password — you file everything yourself. See everything inside the kit →
